Richard Thornton was charged back in 2010. Court documents show the two victims were sexually assaulted multiple times over an eight-year time period. Both children were under the age of 11 when the assaults began.

Thornton is charged with predatory sexual assault against a child, first- and second-degree sexual conduct against a child, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Opening statements were heard on Friday. Witnesses were called to the stand Monday.
