SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Cuomo administration says it's hoping to lend a helping hand to homeowners confronted by foreclosure.

The state has put foreclosure prevention specialists on the road to meet with homeowners across the state. And the advice is available to more than just those already facing foreclosure. Officials say they're also hoping to offer help to those at risk of losing their homes.

"People are still in their homes and that's a great thing. But they're having financial issues. Maybe they've got a job at risk. And when that happens, they need to really start thinking about, if I've got a financial problem, a month, two months, three months down the road, I'm going to run out of money. What's that going to mean for my mortgage payments?" said Benjamin Lawsky, New York State Superintendent of Financial Services.

The new state effort was launched back in February and its team of experts have been traveling to locations all across New York.
