NEW YORK -- The State Assembly is expected to pass their version of a bill that would increase New York's minimum wage. The measure would raise the state's minimum wage from $7.25 $8.50.

While the Democrat-controlled Assembly has made the minimum wage proposal a priority, officials in the Republican-controlled Senate say the bill won't even make it to the floor for debate. Republicans call the measure a job-killer, saying small businesses won't be able to afford the change.

Governor Cuomo supports the increase, but doesn't think it'll happen this legislative session. The session ends on June 21st.
