SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The emotions are still raw for family members of Anna Russo-Young, even as the woman convicted of hitting and killing her with a car heads to prison.

Woman receives maximum sentence in deadly drunk driving crash

Te Sa, 41, was sentenced to two and a third to seven years in prison today, the maximum sentence for second degree vehicular manslaughter.

Sa was driving drunk in March when she hit a parked car on East Division Street in Syracuse. As she tried to free her car, police said she went backward at a high speed, hitting Russo-Young, who was on the sidewalk. Russo-Young was pinned between the car and a concrete block and later died.

Sa offered an apology in court, but family members said it's too little too late.

"It was something that could have been prevented. There was no reason. A senseless act that should have never happened," said Sandra Madonna, Russo-Young’s sister.

In addition to the maximum sentence, the judge ordered that Sa's license be revoked.
