SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The school year may be over at Syracuse University, but some students are voluntarily sending themselves to boot camp: LEED boot camp.

Officials from Carrier Corporation presented the program with $35,000 Wednesday.

Through a partnership between Carrier and the Sustainable Enterprise Partnership, ten graduate students from SU and SUNY ESF are spending the week learning the ins and outs of green building, including visiting real examples in the area.

It's the first run of the program and at the end of the week, students should be prepared to take the test to become LEED green associates.

"The overall program is designed to give students from a wide variety of disciplines a solid understanding of what sustainability means in organizations generally and also specifically what sustainable enterprise means in the context of their particular discipline," said Elet Callahan, Sustainable Enterprise Partnership Director.

The LEED boot camp runs through Saturday.
