BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- A couple in the Town of Lisle is facing charges after five children were found living in unsanitary conditions.

Season Smith-Craft and Ricki Craft have been charged with ten counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

The Broome County Sheriff's says deputies found dog fecal matter and urine in the house, as well as garbage and dirty diapers. Three children were home at the time of the visit and had feces on their feet and one on his head.

Deputies also say the children's beds did not have sheets on them and were soiled to a grey or black coloring.

The case has now been turned over to the Broome County District Attorney's Office.

"Based on the observations of the deputies on the scene, they were charged with endangering welfare of a child due to the health conditions in the home. That matter has been processed and is going to the Town of Lisle Court and will be prosecuted by Broome County DA office," said Broome County Detective Sergeant Jason Ellis.

The children were removed from the home and Child Protective Services continues to look after them.
