SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- No one was injured following a house fire in the City of Syracuse. It happened just before 12:30 p.m. Friday at a one family home at 217 Genesee Park Drive.

Fire officials don't believe anyone was inside when the fire started and crews were able to put it out in just a few minutes.

The home sustained minor damage in the back where the fire is believed to have started.

"We had a heavy body of fire in the rear part of the structure, primarily on the outside. It did extend all the way up the side of the house and in to the attic, where we had some further extension. We were able to knock it down in less than five minutes,” said Syracuse Fire Department Deputy Chief Jeffrey Daly.

The chief says the fire was called in by multiple people who were in the area at the time.

The cause remains under investigation.
