SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse's oldest library branch got a facelift this weekend.
A group of volunteers from Leadership Greater Syracuse spent hours Friday and Saturday sprucing up the outside of White Branch Library on Butternut Street. They also cleaned up and cleaned out several rooms inside.
The work was part of a project they call the 2012 challenge. Members from all 20 alumni classes are taking part in 12 days of service.
They said there's a sense of accomplishment that comes with helping the community out.
Elizabeth Quilter, LGS Class of 2011 said, “Leadership Greater Syracuse is about equipping and engaging our future leaders in the city, but part of what we want to do is give back in a real way. So this kind of service project is really fulfilling for us."
This was day two of the 2012 challenge. Other volunteer efforts will be held throughout the year.
