SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The population in downtown Syracuse is growing exponentially.
In just 10 years, the number of people living downtown has increased 25 percent and one of the ways the city has promoted all it has to offer is through the downtown living tour.
Saturday, more than 2,000 people took part in the self-guided walking tour, which provides a look at the historic neighborhoods, cultural venues and new construction that's underway in Syracuse.
Currently, over 500 new residential units are in the works, opening plenty of doors for people who are interested in making the move.
Merike Treier, Executive Director of the Downtown Committee said, “One of the things we strive to do every year is show the variety of the apartments and condos that we have downtown. Really something to suit everyone's tastes. A lot of people are really unaware that we have the types of gorgeous units that we have downtown. So this is an opportunity for them to actually get inside a bunch of different units and different buildings to really see what we have to offer."
This was the sixth year they've held the Downtown Living Tour and new this year, tour-goers were able to walk along the Creekwalk to visit the tour stop in Franklin Square.
