SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- At first, police thought someone had crashed a truck at the busy intersection of James Street and Thompson Road in Syracuse, then run away. But eventually, they figured out there was no driver.

The truck had apparently been at a work site nearby and had begun to roll on its own through the crowded crossing. There was property damage, but police say the truck struck no other vehicles and no one was hurt in the accident.
