CAZENOVIA, N.Y. -- Cazenovia College is offering a program that teaches children about aquatic ecology. The two week program called, "Creatures of the Deep," uses Cazenovia Lake as its learning tool.

The eight- to 11-year-olds learn about different kinds of fish, water chemistry, the importance of protecting the watershed and data collection.

Organizers say a grant gave them the means to get necessary items like the boat and outdoor motor.

"Without that, there is no way we would be doing this, getting kids out in the boat and checking nets, so that's been, the Connect A million Minds Program, has been the key to getting this program going," said Cazenovia College Association Professor Thad Yorks.
