MADISON COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Waterville man has died following a crash in Madison County.

Authorities say Jessie Eisenhut, 22, had pulled off the side of River Road in the Town of Lebanon around 5 a.m. Wednesday and was refueling his pickup truck when a delivery van came from behind and rear-ended his truck.

Eisenhut's pickup was pushed forward and flipped over. He was thrown into a roadside drainage ditch and the delivery van rolled onto its side on top of him in the ditch.

Eisenhut was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital with life-threatening injuries that he later died from.

The driver of the delivery van was not injured and refused medical treatment at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation.
