BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- With summer just around the corner, that means so is an annual tradition in Binghamton.
The city announced the details of the 2012 LG&T Tennis Challenger. This year's tournament will take place July 14th through the 22nd, a month earlier than last year.
Some of the top amateur and professional tennis players in the world have played in past Challengers, including Andy Murray and three-time champion Paul Capdeville.
But it's not just tennis. The nine day event also features meet and greets, dinner, a concert and one of the biggest draws for children: Tennis clinics.
"For the ten and under, tennis has finally caught on to smaller equipment, foam balls, smaller nets, to start the youngsters off in fun fashion," said Tournament Director Laurie Bowen.
This is the 19th year for the Tennis Challenger. It begins with opening rounds on July 14th at Recreation Park in Binghamton.
