SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- We have a traffic alert to pass along if your commute takes you on Interstate 81 North into Syracuse. You could see heavy delays for the next few weeks.

Construction on I-81 North is causing major backups near the Adams Street and Harrison Street exits, especially during rush hour. As crews work to pave and replace median barriers, 81 North will be reduced to one lane permanently until June 26th.

To avoid delays at all times during the day, the suggested detours are to use Exit 6 to Route 11 North or use Exit 15 to Lafayette Road.
