WASHINGTON, D.C. - Colgate junior Peter Baum capped a record-setting season Thursday night by winning the 2012 Tewaaraton Trophy given annually to the best player in college lacrosse.
Baum led the nation in scoring with 97 points and set eight Colgate and Patriot League records in helping the Raiders to a school-record 14 wins including its first in the NCAA tournament.
The Portland, Oregon native is the first player born west of the Mississippi to win the award.
