Route 13 accident sends two to the hospital

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Two people were hospitalized after a car crash in Ithaca. It happened just after 5:30 p.m. on Sunday near the intersection of Route 13 and Third Street.

According to police, a man driving northbound crossed the centerline of Route 13, striking a street light and colliding with another car.

The woman in the car that was hit had to be extricated and flown to a hospital in Pennsylvania with serious injuries. There is no word on her current condition.

The man was taken to Cayuga Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are now investigation the possibility that the man may have had a medical emergency prior to the crash, but they say charges are pending.
