The Major League Baseball Draft has been a rare exciting one for a couple of local colleges as Ithaca College had a player picked for the first time since 2009 and Herkimer County Community College has had two players selected after never having one called before this year.

Ithaca's draftee was pitcher Tucker Healy, taken Wednesday in the 23rd round by Oakland. Herkimer's first-ever selection came on Tuesday when Tampa Bay took pitcher Willie Gabay in the 15th round and the Generals doubled down on Wednesday with outfielder Hassan Evans being picked in the 38th round by the Chicago Cubs.
