OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- Oswego police say the man who organized a massive vigil in memory of the three people killed in a drunk driving accident Tuesday near the Oswego Speedway was arrested just hours after the event, and accused of driving drunk.
Matthew Haws, 24, was pulled over by Oswego Police just before midnight Wednesday at the corner of East Cayuga and East Seventh streets. That intersection is about one mile from where the vigil was held.
Police say Haws hit a parked car in the area. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, and was also cited for using a portable electronic device and failure to use a designated lane.
Haws is due back in Oswego City Court on June 28th.
