LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- Hundreds spend their night walking, dancing and enjoying the nice weather to raise money for a good cause.
41 teams participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, which kicked off at 7 at Long Branch Park in Liverpool Friday night. While teams must have at least one person walking at all times, the event has grown to include entertainment, dancing, food and other activities.
The annual event raises awareness and money for cancer research. We spoke with one survivor who says its also about protecting future generations.
"I have children, so the more we can fundraise and spread the word, the more that I know my children have a future without cancer," said cancer survivor Jaime Lee.
This year's event had 440 registered participants and raised more than $52,000 dollars.
