LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- It was nice weather for the return of high speed boat racing to Onondaga Lake. Dozens of boats took part in the first day of the Race on the Lake on Saturday.

According to organizers, they are excited to bring hydroplane racing back to the lake after a one year absence.

"It's an exciting event. It's a family event. It's great for grandpas and grandmas and kids. It just fits everybody," said Maureen Doyle, event coordinator.

The Race on the Lake continues on Sunday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Admission is $5 per person and free for children under 8.
