UTICA, N.Y. - As with the season-opener of the King of Kings summer basketball league on Monday, three Syracuse University basketball players took the spotlight on night two on Wednesday and all three left with a victory.
In the first game, Utica Select beat 99 Problems 61-49 behind 17 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks from James Southerland and eight points, 12 rebounsd, and three blocks by Rakeem Christmas. Former SU guard Josh Wright had a game-high 22 points, six rebounds and three assists in the loss.
In the second game, C.J. Fair teamed up with former SU backup Mookie Jones to lead Bless Ballers over Dream Chasers 100-78. Jones, who says he is still considering whether or not to rejoin the Orange after leaving the team during last season for undisclosed reasons, scored 22 points. Colgate's Pat Moore led the Dream Chasers with 24 points.
The league now moves from Utica College to Utica Notre Dame High School for the remainder of the schedule.
