SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Columbia College of Missouri opens the doors to a new campus at the Hancock Field in Syracuse. The school held a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday.
The $2 million facility will provide a physical educational space for service men and women in pursuit of a degree. The college has been in Syracuse for nearly 40 years, but has recently switched to an online format while planning the new facility.
Over 1,000 students in the Syracuse area are currently enrolled in classes. Officials say that with the new building, that number is expected to grow.
"We needed to have our own space. We were very grateful and remain grateful to the 174th Fighter Wing. But in order to accommodate the number of students this campus is projected to enroll, we really needed to establish our own facility," said Scott Vinciguerra, Director of the Hancock Field Campus.
The new building will house seven classrooms, two computer labs, all administrative offices, and a lounge.
