ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A cool million. That's how much a Liverpool man has won on a free Powerball ticket.

The New York Lottery presented Samlane Lathavong, 55, with a giant check Thursday.

Lottery officials say Lathavong got a free quick pick after buying 10 Powerball games at the Far East and Asian Grocery Store in Syracuse on May 26. That promotional quick pick turned out to be the lucky ticket.

After taxes, Lathavong will receive one single payment of $661,800. He says he will use the money to buy a house and also visit his family back home in Laos.

Lathavong is Onondaga County's first lotto millionaire of 2012.
