BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Healthcare advocates in Binghamton applauded the Supreme Court's decision, but say there is still work to be done.

Members of Citizen Action and other supporters of the Affordable Care Act gathered outside the Federal Building on Henry Street.

Healthcare has been a primary issue for Citizen Action over the last 25 years and the group says by upholding the law, commonly referred to as 'ObamaCare,' the United States can begin to rebuild its current system and offer what they say will be affordable healthcare for everyone.

"In this country, so many Americans are making decisions between putting food on the table, paying their light bill and some people are quite frankly dying because they're not going to the doctor for very treatable illnesses and so the Affordable Care Act affords everyone the opportunity to have a quality life," said Lea Webb, of Citizen Action.

Many opponents of the ACA say it will drive up the underlying costs of healthcare and take issue with the penalty, in the form of a tax, that will be imposed on citizens who do not buy insurance.
