HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A major overnight fire heavily damaged the mechanic shop at the Little Falls Lumber Mill in Herkimer County.

Dispatchers say firefighters were called to fire on Southern Avenue at about 11 p.m. Thursday. It took several hours to get the fire under control and firefighters spent most of the morning putting out hot spots.

The lumber company says the shop was destroyed as well as two trucks and a forklift.

The company's main office is located down the street and remains open.

There's still no word yet on what caused the fire.
