CICERO, N.Y. -- Lemonade stands are a staple of summer, but one local stand is doing much more than just making pocket change. Some kids in Cicero are selling lemonade and cookies at a garage sale, not for themselves, but to raise money for pediatric cancer research.

Organizers of the stand say 100 percent of the money raised will go to the national organization, Alex's Lemonade Stand. Other community members are helping out as well by donating cookies and toys for the sale.

While the proceeds for the garage sale are separate, organizers say all the money from the donations and the stand will go to the organization.

"We just thought it was a great cause and the kids were looking to do something special with their money with charity and we had heard about Alex's Lemonade Stand and again, because of the children's ages, we thought it was appropriate that Alex's Lemonade Stand specifically focuses on pediatric cancer research. And they were all on board to join in and very excited,” said Lisa King, lemonade stand organizer.

If you didn't get a chance to stop by the lemonade stand Friday, it will be back in business Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 8434 Rollercoaster Drive in Cicero.
