ONONDAGA, N.Y. --Firefighters in Onondaga County have a new place to train. A dedication ceremony was held Saturday at the Fire Training Center of the Town of Onondaga. The center was first established in 1982. The new burn building is up to the latest codes, and features the latest in training technology.

Officials said it is important to keep up with the latest techniques.

"We have fire departments from as far as Madison County that come here to train, and having a building that they're able to do all the current functions that we need to do today as firefighters, and to have an updated, code efficient building, allows us to do that very efficiently for all the fire departments," said Tom Sauer, President of the Fire Training Center.

In addition to area fire departments, local law enforcement agencies also train at the center.
