CAPE VINCENT, N.Y. -- After leaving Central New York, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand made her way up to the North Country.

In Cape Vincent, she visited Metalcraft Marine, a small aluminum boat building operation on the St. Lawrence River. The parent company is located in Kingston, Ontario and is using its Cape Vincent site to acquire United States federal contracts.

Company President Tom Wroe says it’s great to have the Senator and other leaders visit and hopes they will help them grow here in the U.S.

"The way it works in the United States, as far as we can see is, you make sure you get the work, and in our case, we're going after federal work, so once we get that, we're sort of halfway there and once we do that, we can make those jobs profitable and hire more people," Wroe said.

Senator Charles Schumer and Bill Owens have also visited Metalcraft Marine.
