ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Big band sounds filled the Sunnycrest Ice Rink Friday night for the kickoff of the summertime staple "Dancing Under the Stars." For more than three decades, the Stan Colella Orchestra has played swing music and contemporary hits for people to dance to at the rink.

The program is held every Friday in July, and can bring in up to 600 dancers on a good night. A lot of people end up making a night of it by bringing their own food and drinks.

"People actually come here, who have their dinner, have a huge meal, and then dance to the big band sounds," said Len Colella, orchestra conductor.

“Dancing Under the Stars” is free and open to the public.
