STERLING, N.Y. -- It's been a summertime staple of Central New York for over three decades, and the Renaissance Festival is underway once again for its 36th year. The attraction in Sterling will run for the next six weekends, and during that time more than 80,000 people will come out to enjoy arts and crafts, rides, games, and street theater.
The people behind the show said their actors are one of the things that sets the Sterling Renaissance Festival above all the rest.
"The rosette here signifies professional actors. We're one of the only festivals in the country that has a full-time professional core of actors. We rehearse for four or five weeks, cast them from all over the country. Book in acts from the Renaissance Festival circuit from all over the country, so people from really all over the country and all over the world," Gary Izzo, Creative Director for Renaissance Festival.
Izzo said they have made a few changes this year, including adding more shade around the stage areas to make it more comfortable.
