SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The first floor of Destiny USA is officially open to the public. The Canyon Area, which features 80 foot sculptured trees and a glass roof, opened on Saturday afternoon.

It will soon house many of the restaurants in the expanded mall, the first of which is The Melting Pot, which opens to the public on Wednesday. Mall officials said they hope to have the second floor of the expansion open by the middle of the month. They also hope to have the third floor completed by August 2, which is the date that the mall is set to be rebranded as Destiny USA.
