SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Tops Friendly Markets is expanding into the City of Syracuse.
The grocer has been working with the city for close to a year to try to bring a new store on the South Side.
The new Tops will be located in Valley Plaza on South Salina Street, replacing the former P&C market that used to sit there.
A formal announcement is expected to come on Wednesday when store officials visit the site. Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner is expected to be there too. Filling the Valley Plaza vacancy has been a priority of hers since the beginning of her term.
