SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- For those with disabilities, July 12th is a day for celebration. It marks the 22nd anniversary of the adoption of the Americans with Disabilities Act that required equal opportunity in everything from transportation to employment.

Two decades after its adoption, proponents said there is still work to be done.

"Far more people who have disabilities are unemployed than employed. And the skills that these people can bring to work is lost to our society. So, that's an area that remains critically important," said Tom McKeown, ARISE Executive Director.

As part of the celebration, organizers staged a job fair hoping to connect more people with disabilities to available jobs in the area.
