Police arrest man high on bath salts
Robert Kleps, 54
UTICA, N.Y. -- Utica police arrested a man after they said he threatened them and resisted arrest while he was high on bath salts.
Police said around 12:30 am on Friday near Genesee and Scott Streets an officer found Robert Kleps, 54, standing in the street naked, swinging a tree branch.
They said Kleps threatened the officer and after attempting to calm Kleps down, the officer tased him. However, police said Kleps ripped out the taser and tried to flee.
He was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct, menacing and resisting arrest. Kleps was taken to the hospital and told officials he had taken bath salts for several days.
