ROME, N.Y. -- A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the grand re-opening of the West Rome Drive-In Friday.
The 61-year-old drive-in theater in Rome sits on the site of Davidson Automotive Group, which took over the property. The theater features a new screen, concession stand and can hold 225 cars.
Officials say the theater is an important part of the community and are happy to see it stay.
"It's a piece of Americana that we have held dear to ourselves here in Rome for many, many generations and we're excited to see it back up and running. And as you can see, the cars are lining up already, the kids, a lot of anticipation, a lot of excitement, this is awesome," Rome Mayor Joseph Fusco said.
The grand re-opening featured "Men In Black" and Madagascar 3."
