ALEXANDRIA, N.Y. -- Multiple people are in the hospital on Saturday after a three vehicle crash in Jefferson County. It happened on State Route 37 near the Number Six Road intersection in the town of Alexandria just before 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

The impact split a pickup truck in two pieces, spilling fuel, which ignited. Several people were airlifted to a Syracuse hospital, and others were taken to local hospitals. Route 37 was briefly closed between the hamlet of Redwood and the Stine Road intersection. There are no further details about the cause of the crash, the victims or their conditions at this time.
