For months now, drivers on Route 48 in Oswego have seen the signs in front of Ozzie's Antique Store, alleging that three donkeys were stolen from the couple who live there. Betty and Henry Suhr are now suing the woman who they say kept the donkeys after a loan agreement over the animals went sour. Our Candace Hopkins has more.

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- It's a lingering question that an Oswego County jury will soon answer: Who owns Arturo, Libby and Olive?

The original owners, Betty and Henry Suhr, claim they do and are now suing Hannibal resident Kim Sitzer to get them back.

The disagreement over the donkeys has been ongoing since 2009 when the Suhr's attempted to reclaim the donkeys from Sitzer. They say the animals were on loan, but Sitzer says she believed the donkeys were hers to keep.

The Suhr's have been pushing for a trial for years and have placed signs outside of their home, located on Route 48 in Oswego, to wage a campaign against Sitzer and the Oswego County Sheriff's Department for failing to intervene in the situation.

Right now, two of the donkeys remain in Sitzer's care. The third, Arturo, died in 2009.

On Monday, jurors heard opening statements in the civil suit from both sides and testimony from Betty Suhr, Kim Sitzer's former husband, Scott Sitzer, and a neighbor.

The trial is expected to last two more days.
