Laser disrupts flight from Syracuse

NEW YORK STATE -- Jet Blue and Port Authority Police are investigating an incident involving a flight from Syracuse to New York City where a high powered laser was pointed into the cockpit of the plane.

JetBlue Flight 657 was on approach to JFK Airport Sunday night when the incident happened. The official report states that the pilot suffered minor injuries. Most likely, he was temporarily blinded by the light.

The flight did land safely and without incident, but these types of incidents continue to be a concern. Last year, the FAA received 1,100 reports of this happening. In response, they have started imposing fines up to $11,000 on offenders.

Jet Blue released a statement Monday saying they continue to investigate the incident.
