LEWIS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Tuesday marked the opening of another North Country county fair. This week’s highlights Lewis County.
This is the 192nd year of the Lewis County Fair in Lowville and many of the old favorites are back, like food, rides and everything agriculture. There's also plenty of events, including various bands and other free acts, harness racing on the track, tractor pulls and a country music concert.
Fair organizers say this week is truly about family fun.
"I think that we have a great family event here that everyone can enjoy. It's clean grounds and people come here and really enjoy themselves," said Harry O’Connor, Lewis County Ag Society President.
And Tuesday was also the big cheese auction. The local Kraft Foods plant donates cheese and the proceeds go to dairy industry building.
