Bail set for man accused of threatening boy while on bath salts

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A man who allegedly threatened a five-year-old boy while high on bath salts was arraigned in Syracuse city court.

Police say Jesse Claflin, 31, grabbed a five-year-old boy on the porch of a Seymour Street home Wednesday and put a knife to his throat. The boy's uncle immediately punched Claflin, so he let the boy go and took off.

Claflin was eventually corned by police and put the knife to his own throat. He surrendered without incident after about an hour. He told police he had ingested bath salts.

Claflin was arraigned on a number of charges, including unlawful imprisonment, menacing, weapons possession and endangering the welfare of a child. He was sent to the Onondaga County Jail on $10,000 cash bail, $20,000 bond.
