OLD FORGE, N.Y. -- Police say a man killed in Old Forge was mistakenly shot by his own father. It happened at the Clark Beach Motel a little before one Saturday morning.

State police say Matthew Leach, 37, of Rochester was returning to his hotel room when he was mistaken for an intruder and shot by Michael Leach, 59. Investigators say Michael Leach is a police officer in the village of Perry and used his department-issued handgun in the shooting. He is currently in Saint Luke's Hospital in Utica for treatment of a medical issue.

State police are still investigating the shooting in conjunction with the Herkimer County District Attorney.
