AUBURN, N.Y. -- Hundreds of motorcycles rumbled through the region on Saturday, all to honor those who served in the Vietnam War. The fourth annual Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway of Valor Tribute Ride started in Owego and traveled along Route 38.

As it passed through Auburn, riders were escorted by the city's police and fire department, the auxiliary police, and the Army National Guard. The ride is held around the anniversary of when Route 38 was dedicated to Vietnam veterans by Gov. David Paterson.

"It's been many, many years in coming, recognition for what they've done. They were kind of forgotten, as the Korean War vets were when they returned home. But now, it's come full circle and it's time to thank them for their service," said Michael Quill, (D) Auburn Mayor.

The ride ended in Hannibal with food and entertainment.
