ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Anyone who rides a motorcycle is encouraged to get involved with this effort. Jamesville Beach Park is one of ten start sites across the region for this weekend's Bikers for Babies event. It's also the finishing point for what is expected to be about 800 to 1,000 riders this Saturday.
The fee is $25, but bikers are also encouraged to take pledges.
Starting points include areas in Northern New York and the Southern Tier to areas east and west of Syracuse. Everyone will converge at Jamesville Beach for music, food, and entertainment.
"When babies are born premature, they need to have special needs. They need drugs, they need treatment, they need various modalities and all kinds of things. March of Dimes has participated in the research that has helped fund and funded research that will pretty much help babies survive," said Phil Trela, CNY March of Dimes Board of Dir. Member.
If you're not planning to ride Saturday, you're still encouraged to get involved with the event by coming out to support the cause.
Start times range from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. depending on the site. For a full list of all the start sites with times, and to register visit the Bikers for Babies website at www.bikersforbabies.org.
