VESTAL, N.Y. -- A Vestal man who police say killed the teenage mother of his child has been indicted by a grand jury.

Steven Lipka, 20, is accused of choking 16-year-old Shelby Jenkins to death back in June. She was found dead at a home on Westland Road in Vestal.

Jenkins was finishing up her junior year at BOCES Evertech where she was studying auto body in addition to her regular high school classes.

Lipka is now facing a charge of first degree manslaughter and could be headed to trial if no plea deal is reached.
