ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The case of one of the men charged with arson for a garage fire earlier this month has been forwarded to a grand jury.
Christopher Deverso, 40, waived his preliminary hearing.
The Onondaga County Sheriff's office says Deverso, along with another man, intentionally set a fire that destroyed a garage at the Norstar Apartments in Liverpool earlier this month.
Investigators say the fire started in a double unit where Deverso kept two 1967 Chevy Camaros. They say he and Robert Swartz set the unit on fire so Deverso could collect insurance on the cars, totaling almost $80,000.
Deverso has been charged with arson, conspiracy and insurance fraud.
Bail has been set at $25,000.
