ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Young people are finishing up a memorable week by doing battle to the death.

Members of the Lego Robotics class, through College for Kids at Onondaga Community College, brought their robots to life on the last day Friday. They spent the week learning designing, building and programming a robot.

The teacher says while focusing on the fun, the students also learned science basics, troubleshooting and teamwork.

Robotics is newest of dozens of offerings over three weeks at College for Kids. But the teacher has been representing science in the program for years.

"He has different classes like the maglev and the mouse trap car and aerospace engineering where we launch bottle rockets up. And it teaches us about engineering stuff and different things we don't have anywhere else," said Derek Dore.

Time Warner Cable is the parent company of YNN and we are committed to the Connect a Million Minds program, inspiring youth to develop science, technology, engineering and math skills. For more information on the initiative, go to connectamillionminds.com.
