MEXICO, N.Y. -- The "American Veterans’ Traveling Tribute Vietnam Wall" is a mobile version of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. Although it is much smaller, the traveling structure features all of the names inscribed in the permanent memorial.

The wall was on display at the Edick Hamlink VFW Post in Mexico until Sunday evening, and attracted hundreds of visitors, including many veterans who say the tribute helps keep the history of the war fresh in the public's mind.

"Because of the welcome home we got, we get more respect now, and this kinda reminds us of the whole situation back then, but it's a very moving tribute, so I like it," said Vietnam War veteran John Milback.

The program is run solely on donations and sponsorship. The wall is now on its way downstate to its next stop in East Meadow.
