BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- Democratic Congressional candidate Dan Lamb calls for a compromise in the debate over taxes.

Lamb is vying for the seat in the newly formed 22nd Congressional District.

Lamb held three press conferences Monday throughout the district, in Whitesboro, Cortland and Binghamton.

Lamb says Democrats are arguing for an extension of current tax rates for 98 percent of income earners, while Republicans insist on an extension of 100 percent of the Bush tax cuts.

Lamb says both sides of the aisle need to give a little and meet somewhere in the middle.

"This isn't some vendetta against the rich. I want to be clear about this. It's just basic math. We can't balance a budget without everyone pitching in," Lamb said.

Lamb is running against Republican incumbent Congressman Richard Hanna.
