UTICA, N.Y. -- Mayor Rob Palmieri is saying "Utica's fighting spirit" is behind the reopening of a popular swimming pool. Buckley Pool will reopen today at 1 p.m.

The pool was originally expected to be closed for the entire summer after a circulatory pump broke a couple weeks ago. But Mayor Palmieri says since then, an undisclosed list of private donors and the Community Foundation raised the $15,000 needed to repair the pump. Local union electricians then volunteered their time to help with the installation.

So East Utica residents can grab their swimsuits and head back to Buckley Pool Tuesday afternoon.
