ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- From day to day surgeries to unanticipated accidents, there is always a need for blood supplies in local hospitals.
The Red Cross held a blood drive Tuesday in Baldwinsville, sponsored by Assemblyman Bill Magnerelli. Organizers say with the national need for blood, they have seen a great response in donations, especially with the help of well-known sponsors.
"With the national outcry for blood, we have seen a response and it's been great. We just hope that it continues. If the average donor donated twice a year, it would reduce the lack of blood by a great deal," Trent MacBain said.
The Red Cross says there has been a particular need for O-positive and B-negative blood types.
